How to delete a contact in WhatsApp for iPhone
Keep your friends close and your enemies blocked.
Being primarily a messaging app, learning how to manage your contacts in WhatsApp is essential in order to get the best experience possible. The interesting thing with WhatsApp is how integrates directly with your iPhone's contact list — it means all your contacts are at your fingertips right away, no importing or searching for friends is needed. However, any editing you do to your contacts in WhatsApp will affect the contact outside of the app — and vice versa.
How to delete a contact in WhatsApp for iPhone
If you're like us, sometimes your contact list gets clogged up with people you no longer talk to. Deleting contacts is a great way to clean up that list so it's easier to find the people you really want to talk to. It's important to note that this will also completely delete the contact from your iPhone, not just WhatsApp, so be sure it's what you want — there is no turning back!
1. Launch WhatsApp from your Home screen.2. Tap on the Contacts tab. It's the middle tab which looks like a head-shaped icon at the bottom of your screen.
3. Scroll through your contacts and tap on the name of the person you would like to delete.
4. Tap on the Edit button. It's in the top right corner of your screen.
6. Tap on the Delete Contact button. A confirmation dialog will appear at the bottom of the screen.
7. Tap on the Delete Contact button.
Now that contact will be completely gone from your iPhone.
How to use Favorites in WhatsApp for iPhone
While WhatsApp does have the option to make contacts favorites, the feature appears to be in desperate need of an update. Currently the Favorites tap (located in the bottom left corner) displays all of your WhatsApp contacts, but if you remove a contact from your favorites and refresh the list or reload WhatsApp, that contact will reappear. While Favorites does provide you with quick access to just your WhatsApp contacts, we can't recommend you waste any time trying to manage who shows up in that list. If and when the WhatsApp app is updated to fix this behavior, we will update this how-to.
